This has to be a misprint. This has to be shoddy reporting. This has to be a nasty rumor. This just can't be. The Jets....my Jets....just acquired Brett Favre? Let me check...did I have one too many drinks? No, I don't drink. Did I take one too many Prozac? No, I don't take Prozac. Is it April Fools Day? Nope...it's August. What in the name of Weeb Eubank is going on here? Brett Favre is actually a Jet??? Well, if I didn't take Prozac before, I may very well need one now.

This makes no sense. I mean...Favre coming to the Jets makes perfect sense, but we're talking the Jets. The same team that dealt John Riggins to the Redskins, then watched him carry Washington to the Super Bowl. I watched helplessly as my beloved Jets drafted the wrong players year in and year out. I watched in horror as the Jets passed on Dan Marino in favor of Ken O'Brien. I cringed as I watched Bill Parcells say goodbye to the Jets. I was embarrassed when Belichick spurned the Jets after one day as coach to join the Patriots. I have watched other teams play in the Super Bowl for the last forty years, including the rival crosstown Giants, while the Jets season was done. This must be a cruel and inhumane joke. Is Brett Favre truly a New York Jet? Do the Jets actually have a star quarterback for the first time since having Joe Namath behind the center?

You'll have to excuse me for writing such a dopey column...but the Jets just acquired Brett Favre. Brett Favre is a New York Jet. A Jet...Brett Favre is a Jet.
