1) The Jets go into the game on nine days of rest, while the Titans
have the typical six day layoff.
2) The Jets defense has done well against seasoned veteran quarterbacks such as Warner,
Bulger, and Pennington while having trouble with some of the younger quarterbacks in
the league. Kerry Collins is another seasoned veteran that the Jets could bottle up.
3) The Titans score most of their points via the run game. The Jets are 4th in the NFL against the run.
Lendale White seems to slow down as the season wears on. The Jets will hold Chris Johnson under 100 yards rushing.
4) While the Titans defense is one of the league's best, the Jets defense can't be overlooked.
They are 2nd in the league in interceptions returned for a TD, 2nd in the league in forced fumbles,
2nd in the league in defensive TDs, and 3rd in the league in sacks. Those numbers are better than those of
the Titans.
5) Favre is on a roll, and looks more and more comfortable in the Jets offense. And as Favre improves, so
does the running game, led by Thomas Jones. Jones leads the AFC in rushing.
6) Favre allows the Jets opportunities to gamble on 4th downs. The Jets have the best 4th down
conversion rate in the NFL.
7) The Titans have a game on Thanksgiving Day. Any player banged up before the game ends may be held
out due to the short week ahead.
8) A victory on the road at New England has the Jets riding high and confident. The Titans have been
the hottest team over the entire season, but the Jets have been just as hot over the past four
weeks as the Titans have been.
9) Kerry Collins has had little success in four career starts vs the Jets.
10) Both teams have momentum going into this game. Favre is Favre, and he is starting to look like the Favre
who led the Packers to the playoffs last season...and countless other seasons before that. It's doubtful
the Titans will run the table this season, and it could become a distraction down the stretch. I wouldn't bet
money on this...but I like the Jets for the upset.
Prediction: Jets 27 Titans 24
Court Adjourned!
