Justice Jay is currently a sports correspondent for the Smithfield Herald (a subsidiary of the News and Observer). He was previously a staff writer for the Wilson Daily Times, as well as the sports editor for the now-defunct Goldsboro Times-Inquirer and also now-defunct Pamlico News. Jay points out that they did not close shop as a result of him being on staff.

Jay mainly covers high school sports, but has been the media/PR director for Southern NBAtional Raceway Park. SNRP boasts two former track champions among the NASCAR ranks -- Scott Riggs and Denny Hamlin.

With the Daily Times, Jay covered NC State, Duke, UNC and East Carolina, along with the Carolina Mudcats and Kinston Indians minor league teams.
